Eligibility Requirements for Studying Law in Canada

Admission requirements vary widely depending on the university in Canada. Proof of strong proficiency in English is required by all universities in Canada. Students may be required to provide proof of language proficiency by writing a language proficiency test (E.g. IELTS or TOEFL).

Given below is a brief overview of the basic requirements for Law programs in Canada

Undergraduate Program

For undergraduate programs, a minimum of twelve years of education (Equivalent to completion of 12th Std. in India) is required

Postgraduate Program (Master of Laws -LLM)

For graduate level programs, you should have completed a LLB degree from a recognized college or University.

Along with your degree credentials, you will also typically need to provide:

  • Two or more letters of recommendation/Reference Letters

  • Proof of proficiency in English (e.g. TOEFL/IELTS) if your first language is not English

  • A statement of purpose (essay), outlining your aspirations and demonstrating your suitability for the course/program of study


University/ College Admission Process

The first step in the admission process is to determine your program of study (e.g. LLM) and the universities that offer these programs. Once we work with you to decide your University/College and program of study, we will process your applications by helping you with all the required documentation and work with our partner universities / colleges to get back to you at the earliest.

Once you are accepted by the university/college, we will also provide guidance on Visa/Study permit processing.
